Is this really the penultimate post?

From the ‘Independent on Sunday’:

“The internet has become the new battleground in tensions between children and parents,” says Sonia Livingstone, professor of social psychology at London School of Economics, and director of the EU Kids Online Network. “Most of the issues are about parenting rather than the internet.”

It’s a good article, but my oh my, how late in the day is all this? Note the writer refers to Omegle as something she’s never heard of, and, of course, 4chan just remains off the table. Do I get annoyed that most commentators suddenly think they’ve come across something new? You bet. Do I get annoyed that sites like cameracaptures still go ignored? Certainly. All of this has been going on for ages, yet the ever-alert press catches up with it about 10 years too late. Oh well, at least they are doing something.

Some time ago, I think I wrote something called ‘The Penultimate Post’. On two occasions, I wrote what was supposed to be the final post. But now it comes to an end. If I can be bothered, I will write a final summary post, and then sign off permanently. Well, I say permanently, but I will be starting another blog. Or maybe I won’t. It would take a lot to follow this one. Never in a million years did I think I would get 750,000 views. But then again, never in a million years did I think I would get an inbox filled with death threats and hate mail, nor some ridiculous web page offering me some sort of armistice if I stopped. And I do miss Greg Sticker.
